Pictures of the April 25th Show Green Pavilion Section

May 14th, 2010

Kate Harrison was our guest speaker at our April 25th show.  Three gown designers brought their gowns in for a mini fashion show we hope to have part of that up on the blog or as a video on our website soon.  Everyone was amazed at the small things that you could do for your wedding to make it green.  By using locally grown flowers in containers filled with rocks or beans etc instead of using floral foam etc.  Printing river rock with the names of your guests for place cards.  Kate also has a great website that can help you find local vendors for products for your wedding.  These are just a few of the pictures from the show.  They are all green vendors.

Gwendolyn Gleason

Introducing an exciting “eco” conscious Bridal Collection designed by international designer Gwendolyn Gleason She has sourced personally organic Cottons, Linens & PEACE SILK from around the world, spending four months in India creating Peace Silk that is non-violent!  Most Silk kills the worm in the harvesting of the cocoon.  Peace silk allows the worm to live, eat it’s way out of the cocoon, then the fiber is twisted into fine yarn for weaving a luxurious fabric.  This fabric has the “Highest Frequency” on the planet because there is no negative emotion in the harvesting of the fiber.  What better to be married in a dress that is made in a SACRED Silk TM.  The gowns have linings that are organic as well, unlike most designer gowns in the Industry.  This insures the Bride is cool & comfortable as well!!

Here are some of her gowns that you might see at the Rocky Mountain Bridal Show on Sunday, April 25 at the Colorado Convention Center  The fashion show will be at 2:00 pm

THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN BRIDAL SHOW’S APRIL

EVENT FEATURES GREEN PAVILION FOR EARTH DAY headshot_in_dark_valley3

Green Bride Guide Author Kate Harrison is special guest speaker

The Rocky Mountain Bridal Show (RMBS), set for Sunday, April 25, will feature a special Green Pavilion in honor of Earth Day featuring  examples of how local brides can “green” their wedding plans.  Green Bride Guide author and website founder Kate Harrison will also appear and speak at the show.

“More and more couples want to extend their eco-conscious values to their wedding,” says Shirley Coburn, longtime producer of the RMBS.  “We want to educate the industry about how to facilitate greener weddings and provide options to the increasing number of bride and grooms who want their wedding to be eco-friendly.”

The RMBS produces three events a year, and many of the events include presentations by celebrities, speakers and influential authors.   Harrrison, a Connecticut-based author and national green wedding expert  (“The Green Bride Guide”, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and the founder and CEO of  www.GreenBrideGuide.com), will co-produce  the Green Wedding Pavilion, which will highlight environmentally friendly

The Green Bride Guide connects couples with green wedding service providers in their area, such as restaurants that serve local, organic food and limousine companies that use hybrid vehicles. The directory includes vendors throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

“When my husband Barry and I began thinking about and planning our own green wedding, we were surprised by how little information was available to assist us,” says Harrison.  “  ‘The Green Bride Guide’ book was the first step in compiling the results from the hundreds of hours I had spent researching green wedding ideas.  When I launched the website last year, I was thrilled with the user feedback and response as it quickly became the #1 green wedding website.  The Green Bride Guide directory is the next step in the evolution of this idea, and helps couples support local green businesses.”

“Whatever the hottest new trends are, we show them first in Colorado.  We like to feature authors and speakers that can help our attendees with every aspect of their weddings.”

Sponsors of the event include WeddingWire.com and Brides/Colorado, Al’s Formalwear and Talbot Photography.
